Natalie Barr has been revealed as Samantha Armytage’s replacement as co-host on the Seven Network breakfast television show Sunrise.

The journalist will start in Armytage’s role on Monday, Barr confirmed in an interview with News Corp Australia Sunday newspapers.

After eight years in the high-profile role with co-host David Koch, Armytage announced on Monday that she needed a break.

Barr, who has been a part for the Sunrise family for more than 15 years, was the hot favourite for the sought-after gig.

Other personalities from Seven that were in the mix included Weekend Sunrise co-host Monique Wright, Sunrise entertainment presenter Edwina Bartholomew and journalist Angela Cox.
