KIIS1065’s Kyle and Jackie O have hung onto the top spot in the latest radio ratings survey results despite 2GB’s Ben Fordham making a strong comeback.

The Sydney duo knocked Fordham off the top spot in October’s radio ratings survey, with Fordham dropping in popularity with an audience share of 14.2 per cent (down 0.4 percentage points), compared to KIIS1065 at 14.7 (up 0.8 percentage points).

Both morning shows surged in most recent survey, compiled by ratings firm GfK, with Fordham piling on two full percentage points to come in at 16.2, just edged out by Kyle and Jackie O who added 1.6 percentage points to notch up a 16.3 per cent share.

Their gains came at the cost of 104.9 TripleM, down 0.9 percentage points to 4.6 per cent, while over on the ABC morning host James Valentine’s audience share dropped 0.2 percentage points to 8.4 per cent.

2GB’s Sydney morning show hosted by Ray Hadley solidified its dominant position, up a solid 1.5 points to 15.2 per cent, with Hadley winning his 153rd consecutive survey.

KIIS1065 was second in mornings with a 12 per cent share (up 1.0) while smoothfm 95.3 added 1,7 points to be third with 11.1 per cent.

Overall, 2GB was the number one station in Sydney with an audience share of 12.5 per cent, up 1.3 points followed by KIIS1065 with an audience share of 12.1, up 0.7. ABC Sydney dropped 0.4 points to 6.8.

Fordham remains under investigation by the media regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, over an on-air segment in August where he told listeners he had started Uber driving to earn extra money, but he failed to disclose in the segment he was in a commercial deal with Uber.

In Melbourne Nine radio’s 3AW held onto top spot overall despite a fall of 2.4 points to 13.9.

Gold104.3 came in second with 12.7 per cent market share, down 0.3 points, with 101.9 Fox FM third on 10.5 per cent, up 1 point.

3AW’s breakfast duo of Russel Howcroft and Ross Stevenson remained on top at 18.5 per cent, despite a steep 3.2 point fall, following a fall of 0.6 in the previous survey.

This fall has carried over into Neil Mitchell’s morning show, which held onto top spot despite plunging 3.9 points to 15.7, again following a fall in the previous survey, of 0.5 points.

Mitchell will depart his show in December.

The ABC’s Melbourne morning show with new host Rafael Epstein, replacing Virginia Trioli whose last show was on September 15, improved 1.1 points to 8.8, while in the breakfast slot ABC was up 1.4 to 10.1.

The Brisbane market remains neck and neck for overall market share, with Triple M bouncing from third place to first with a market share of 12.4 per cent, up 0.7 points.

Nova dropped from first to second place with a 12 per cent share, down 0.2 points, while KIIS973 fell from second to third spot, down 0.1 points to 11.8.

In the Adelaide market Triple M added 3.3 points to have 15.5 of the total market share across the day, ahead of Mix 102.3 on 11.5, up 0.2.

The ABC dropped 0.2 points to be seventh overall with a 7.6 per cent share.

Triple M’s breakfast show led by Mark Ricciuto, Chris Dittmar and Laura O’Callaghan piled on 4.7 points to hold a dominant 16.9 per cent market share after sharing the top spot last month with David Penberthy and Will Goodings over at 5AA, with their market share dropping 1.3 points to 10.9.

ABC Adelaide, whose morning co-host Stacey Lee is rumoured to be considering a move to 5AA in the afternoon, dipped 0.4 points to 10.1.
