News Corporation journalists took out the most prestigious honours at the annual Victorian Quill Awards in Melbourne on Friday night.

Website news.com.au’s political editor Samantha Maiden was crowned the 2021 Graham Perkin Australian Journalist of the Year for her series of stories that revealed the alleged rape of former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins in Parliament House in Canberra.

Herald Sun sports journalist Michael Warner’s scoop on the explosive Collingwood Football Club report into racism saw him take home two awards, including the Gold Quill and the Best Sports Report. The judges said Warner’s “genuine scoop set in train a series of events that rocked Australia’s biggest sporting club and its high-profile president to the core”.
