Hiscock appointed to Powerhouse

AUSTRALIA Council executive Rose Hiscock has been tapped as the new director of Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.

AUSTRALIA Council executive Rose Hiscock has been tapped as the new director of SydneyÂ’s Powerhouse Museum replacing Dawn Casey who held the job for five years.

Hiscock will commence at the museum in July after extricating herself from her current role at the Australia Council, where she oversees arts development.

The appointment marks a return to the museum sector for Hiscock, who previously held a senior role with Museum Victoria.

NSW arts minister George Souris paid tribute to outgoing director Dawn Casey and thanked her “for her dedicated service to the Museum since March 2008”.

“I want to thank Dr Casey for her commitment to the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences over the past five years.

"She has made a significant contribution to developing the direction of the museum, revitalising its gallery spaces and bringing a series of highly popular exhibitions to the Powerhouse."
