Leaders’ debate fails to pull viewers
Last night’s leaders’ debate failed to attract voters, pulling in just 557,649 viewers around the country.
The first live television debate between Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten failed to attract voters, pulling in just 557,649 viewers around the country last night.
The live debate, which was held in Perth from 7pm (AEST), was the 20th most watched program around the country. However it was smashed by the number one commercial free-to-air TV show, Seven News, which was watched by 1.63 million people around the country.
Of that, 125,117 people in Western Australia watched the live debate on Seven’s primary channel, and a further 432,532 people outside the state watched it on Seven’s second channel, 7Two.
A replay of the debate was watched by 22,826 people in WA and 287,588 of people elsewhere around the country.
Online, 8000 people watched the debate on Seven’s broadcast video-on-demand services, 7plus, and 5267 people viewed it on Seven’s recently launched news website, 7NEWS.com.au.
In total, the debate was watched 881330 times around the country, and 603,157 in the big metro cities.
