Paul Sorvino, star of Goodfellas and Law & Order, has died at age 83.

The actor died on Monday local time with his wife Dee Dee Sorvino by his side.

“Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage,” she said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“I am completely devastated,” She wrote separately on Twitter. “The love of my life & the most wonderful man who has ever lived is gone . I am heartbroken.”

The “Law & Order” actor died of natural causes, according to his representative Roger Neal. Sorvino had dealt with health issues in the last years of his life.

“Goodfellas” won one Oscar, and was nominated for five others, and scenes from the movie continue to resonate as cultural touchstones more than three decades later.

While best known for playing gangsters, he was a fixture among Hollywood cinema for more than 50 years. He started in classis including The Rocketeer, Reds, and Oliver Stone’s Nixon, as well as TV dramas like Law & Order.

He is survived by his wife Dee Dee; his three adult children, Mira, Amanda and Michael, and five grandchildren.

“My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over,” his daughter, the actress Mira Sorvino, tweeted.

“He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.”

It comes just eight weeks after the death of his Goodfellas co-star on May 26.

Liotta, whose blistering turn as real-life mobster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s crime masterpiece won universal admiration, was shooting a new film in the country when he died, a spokeswoman for the Dominican Republic’s General Direction of Cinema said.

“We understand that he was accompanied by his (fiancee) and that the (fiancee) asks that you please respect her grief,” the spokeswoman said.

Liotta’s publicist in Los Angeles confirmed his death, saying the actor died in his sleep and that there were no suspicious circumstances.

He was working on a movie called “Dangerous Waters” at the time of his death. Liotta’s breakout came in 1990 when he was cast alongside Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in what is widely considered one of the greatest films of the 20th century.

His Goodfellas co-star, Lorraine Bracco, said she was “utterly shattered” about the death of “my Ray”.

“I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favourite movie is Goodfellas,” she said in a tweet.

“Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same...Ray Liotta.”
