Ichiro’s Sushi Bar
Japanese$$
The simplest way to judge the worth of a sushi train is by the number of people perched at the bar. Ichiro’s, which is all bare tables and red lanterns, ticks that box, proving popular with Mascot’s local jet set. At $12.50, the lunch special is a cost-effective selection of three sushi rolls and a hot green tea. The inside-out rolls are a two-bite delight, arriving alongside iridescent seaweed and slabs of pink tuna. The teriyaki chicken don is also lacquered with soy and pelted with sesame seeds and served on a thatch of grated carrot, leaves and a mound of rice. Forgo dessert for a salty, nourishing bowl of miso soup.
