Safari Restaurant
African
Ever wondered about Somali food? Try some at this relaxed, family-run hangout with glass-topped tables, African prints, and a water fountain burbling next to the fake pot plant. Meals start with a cleansing bowl of hot, chilli-laced lamb broth, followed by platters of on-the-bone lamb with pilaf-style rice and spaghetti tossed with spicy berbere. Or there's garlicky stir-fried lamb laced with lemon pepper. Drink free carafes of Vimto cordial, and try nutty, honey-soaked pastries for sweets. Don't expect haute cuisine, but do expect home-cooking, and to be able to feed a family for under $40.
