In a suburban shopping strip flooded with chichi cafes, Green Villa's offer of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine shines like a culinary beacon as bright as its fern-green exterior. Leave behind brownies and beef pies in favour of vibrant coconut-rich curries: perhaps tender cuttlefish spiced with ginger, or a delicious cashew nut and veg curry. Coconut-stuffed rotis are tempting, but the slightly sour tangle of string hoppers (like a rice-noodle 'scoop') are the best accompaniments. Desserts are no afterthought, as evidenced by the traditional tart yoghurt married with rich kithul treacle (pure palm-tree sap).
