DOC Mornington

Italian$$

Mornington's delight with its very own DOC continues unabated, and with good reason. It's like someone plonked a piece of Carlton right onto the Peninsula, complete with spunky, selectively attentive, straight-from-Italia service; carefully sourced quality ingredients and, oh, those pizzas. Cheese is a healthy obsession here. DOP buffalo mozzarella nestles alongside San Daniele prosciutto or imported porcini atop wafer-thin, perfectly blistered and charred crusts. It also comes on an antipasto platter along with Sardinian pecorino and burrata (creamy mozzarella) from Puglia. After your meal, just try avoiding a cheese-and-salumi splurge at the attached deli and provedore.
