For hospo workers

Unfortunately, many hospo staff have been hit hard by the latest lockdown, so a few generous venues have stepped up to provide free or discount meals for those who may not be able to afford it. The Australian Venue Co is providing 2000 "mates bag" for staff and other hospitality workers, which include seven free, fresh meals (plus one dessert) such as beef shepherd's pie, Sri Lankan curry and Thai pumpkin soup. The bag can be claimed via the company's website, and collected from Bungalow 8 at King Street Wharf. Mary's Newtown is also offering a $10 burger and beer for eligible hospo staff (bring your RSA or payslip) during lockdown (text 0435 469 421 for details), while The Taphouse is dishing out free dinners and bourbon shots for all hospo workers, no questions asked. Just ask for a "hospo meal" at the Darlinghurst venue for a house-crumbed chicken schnitzel with gravy, chips and seeded salad, or a vegetarian pasta puttanesca with onion, garlic, chilli, sun-dried tomato, olives, capers and parmesan. Surry Hills charcoal chicken eatery Henrietta is also lending a helping hand, offering 40 per cent off its Flip the Bird Box, a snack pack with fried chicken pieces on a bed of potato gems, topped with coleslaw, pickles, toum and a secret sauce ($18, $10 for hospo workers).
