Bitter Suite

Contemporary
IPAs to stouts, bottle or tap, quirky ginger and chilli infusions beside a gradually expanding craft cider offering; it's worth getting well acquainted with the robust liquid listing at this New Farm beer bistro. But don't ignore the food. Put aside time to spend a lazy afternoon under dappled shade, or indoors amidst chic vintage decor, and begin with half-pints and share plates of dude food that's not lost on dames, or those with special diets for that matter (there's even a gluten-free brew). Confit duck salad is balanced by blue cheese and honey; sticky lamb ribs are saved from embarrassing richness by no-nonsense red cabbage; and hoisin duck pancakes - a house speciality - are well deserving of a Vale Ale wash-down. Smaller bar nibbles help fill any gaps, and there's a not half-bad selection of mostly homegrown grapes for the hop-averse. In short, keep it simple, linger long and make like the locals do. Cheers!
