The Prince of Wales

Gulgong has managed to end up on the right side of the line when it comes to heritage versus twee and The Prince does much the same with a colonial-style dining room. The regular menu won't reinvent pub cuisine, but it's the specials that shine. A beef Wellington is a touch overdone but still tasty inside its crisp pastry shell, while a Bombay beef curry is the stuff of local legend, with some of the cockies requesting a text when it's on the menu. And it doesn't disappoint - meltingly good beef in a punchy curry sauce with fragrant rice to soak it all up.
