Moonee Beach Tavern
13/20
Pub dining
It's obvious these guys specialise in pizza, with locals popping in to grab a takeaway. The open-plan bistro area has floor-to-ceiling windows, while the bar has a '90s feel with a backdrop of exposed brick. There's a wood oven, but it only gets lit in the evening and there's a $3 surcharge if you want your pizza wood-fired - a bit of a con. The menu goes beyond pizza and calzone; grilled swordfish topped with salty almond butter works well with the sweet potato mash and bok choy, but a steak was dry and overcooked. Finish with a cake special or a kid's banana split.
