Gumshara Ramen

Japanese$$

Bearing cult status among ramen devotees city-wide, Gumshara doesn't mess around with fancy extras, other than a selection of toppings and flavourings - traditional and less so - to enhance the slowly simmered pork bone stock and springy, curly noodles. It's all about the broth, and the sticky, milky tonkotsu ramen that's top of the must-order list. Beyond photos and hand-written signs and the ever-present line of ramen-ites waiting for their fix, there's little to mention decor-wise, apart from the dingy food-court surrounds. But dip into your ramen, add a chilli 'bomb' for extra zing - or some of the complimentary condiments - and exit back into the sunshine (or twilight) feeling nourished and complete.
