Oak Room
Cafe
It would be easy to zoom past Oak Room, set back on busy High Street amid bridal shops and the like, but serious coffee lovers would be advised to pull over and head into this long, expansive cafe, its slightly moody interior offset by a sun-yellow coffee machine and the sheer enthusiasm of owner-barista Ken Taing, who will switch you onto a Guji pourover, heady with blackcurrant notes, then give you a sample of it as a cold drip and revel in the difference. The menu is a compact rollcall of cafe classics.
