Mama Bear
Modern Australian
At the western edge of Racecourse Road, where thoughts turn to fillies and fascinators, new Mama Bear is giving residents of this cafe-starved pocket reason to rejoice. Behind its funky facade is a handsome industrial fitout with seating to suit all comers, from the quieter rear courtyard to the white-picket-enclosed kerbside tables. The house bean is 7, 000 Blend from Gridlock, a cocoa-toned hit with fruity bite and dark-choc finish. Single origins are a weekly affair, while the menu is a bounty of all-day breakfasts, plus lunchtime ciabatta sandwiches, salads and beef-cheek sliders.
