Just Open: Kiosk by d'Asporto, Williamstown
Move aside icy poles and hot dogs. The Williamstown beach kiosk has had a makeover and Italian street foods such as cotoletta panini, pizza and gelati brioche will be on the menu this week.
The kiosk, between Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club and the beach, has been kitted out with all the gadgetry required to foster a Mediterranean beach vibe.
Kiosk by d'Asporto is being run by Mark Smundin and Claudio and Antonietta Acquaro. The Acquaros run nearby Pizza d'Asporto and also cater, with a similar Italian street food line-up, at the local little athletics meets at Newport Park on Saturday mornings.
They're quietly intent on raising the Williamstown food temperature.
Joining panini stuffed with cotoletta (crumbed chicken) and peperonata will be other fillings such as porchetta with Italian coleslaw, along with cones of battered fish and chips, and frittata.
Pizza slices will include tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil, and a bianco (white) number adorned with mozzarella and prosciutto.
As well as Illy coffee they'll serve coffee granita and sweets such as artisan gelati, sfogliatella napoletana (sweet ricotta pastry) and choc-hazelnut bomboloni.
Open daily 8am-5pm (later if sunny).
