A WOMAN, who escaped a citizen’s arrest but was later caught by police hiding under a barbecue, has beeb charged with stealing and other offences.

A resident of a unit in Stuart Park woke to two intruders in their home on Saturday at about 8.20am.

The resident approached the front door and was met by a male intruder, who stated he was visiting one of the unit’s occupants before fleeing the scene.

The second intruder, a woman, was found and restrained by an occupant but she broke free while police were en route.

She attempted to escape by climbing down a drain pipe before assaulting nearby residents who tried to stop her.

She was eventually arrested hiding under a barbecue on the balcony of another unit.

An investigation revealed multiple items had been stolen by the woman and her accomplice.

The 34-year-old woman was charged with robbery, criminal damage, unlawful entry of an occupied dwelling, possess schedule 1 dangerous drug and trespass on enclosed premises.

Strike Force Trident detectives are continuing their investigations to identify the unknown male.
