A 47-YEAR-old woman has been taken into custody accused of assaulting the driver of a vehicle she crashed into, and of drink driving.
The woman, driving a Toyota utility, allegedly hit a Proton ute at the intersection of Wills Tce and the Stuart Hwy in Alice Springs about 6pm Monday.
The two drivers pulled over at a nearby servo to swap details.
Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said the 46-year-old man who was driving the Proton said he was going to call police to report the crash.
“The female made attempts to leave the scene, he made attempts to stop her and she (has allegedly) assaulted him,” he said.

Cdr Furniss said the woman allegedly scratched and abused the man.
He said police arrived and breath tested both drivers.
He said the woman returned a positive blood alcohol reading of .144.
He said the woman was expected to be charged with medium range drink driving, assault and drive without due care.
