A WIDELY-ADORED man who was living in Alice Springs has been remembered as a “unique, one-of-a-kind guy” who loved spending time in nature.

Thirty-seven-year-old Yun-Seob Shin tragically died on the weekend after going camping in Central Australia.

His car was found by a helicopter in an aerial search on Sunday near Boggy Hole, approximately 170km south of Alice Springs.

Yun-Seob got bogged on a four-wheel-drive track and succumbed to the extreme weather, where temperatures reached a 42.9C in town on Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

His loss has been felt by many, and has left his colleagues at popular cafe Page 27 “completely shattered”.

The cafe posted on social media that it would be closed until Wednesday following the tragedy.

His colleagues described him as a “real joker” who was “always full of ideas and full of energetic wisdom”.

It’s believed Yun-Seob lived in Melbourne for seven years prior to moving to Alice Springs less than two months ago, and will be remembered by his mother, father and brother who live in Korea.

Page 27 manager Kelly Edwards said he livened up the cafe during his short stint there.

His colleagues reported him missing when he didn’t show up for work on Saturday.

“It was hard to believe,” Ms Edwards said.

“We all hoped they would find him and that he was waiting to be found and holding on to hear that it was too late is devastating.

“It will make a huge difference at the cafe.

“You know when lightness is in the room. He loved interacting with customers and the customers will never forget him.

“He was one of those people that was really kind to everyone and was always trying to make everyone’s jobs easier.

“He was an all-rounder and loved it.”

Ms Edwards said Yun-Seob was a big adventurer who loved spending time in nature.

“Once a week on his two days off he would go out camping for one night. That’s why when he didn't come to work on Saturday we knew something was wrong and reported it straight away.

“He just loved going out in nature and having a break and having a camp. Nothing would have stopped him.”
