AN 79-YEAR-OLD woman has been attacked in her Palmerston home by a group of home invaders with their faces covered this morning.
Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was assaulted during an unlawful entry at a unit complex on Flynn Circuit, Bellamack, on Wednesday.
“Police received a report at around 12.45am … that a group of male offenders had smashed through a glass door of the unit and attempted to steal the victim’s handbag,” she said.
“The victim was woken by the commotion and was pushed to the ground by one offender as they fled the location.
“The offenders had their faces covered but are believed to be male teenagers or young adults.”
“The victim did not suffer any serious injuries, but she’s been left very shaken.”
A handbag, cash and cigarettes were stolen.
