Two fined for failing to quarantine

TWO people were slapped with fines over the long weekend for failing to comply with quarantine restrictions.

TWO people in Alice Springs were slapped with fines over the long weekend for failing to comply with quarantine restrictions.

Police also gave out 208 notices to drivers caught speeding, with a total of 5999 cars scanned over the long weekend.

NT Police Deputy Commissioner Murray Smalpage said the two people fined had failed to follow COVID-19 restrictions and quarantine for 14 days.

“NT Police conducted 453 quarantine checks against people who were in quarantine and issued two infringements on two people in Alice Springs who weren’t doing the right thing,” he said.

He said it was pleasing to see the vast majority of people following the newly eased restrictions over the weekend.

“We’ve seen a general easing of restrictions and we expect Territorians to continue to do the right thing, now is not the right time to become complacent and all is OK,” he said.

He said cops would continue to enforce social distancing rules.
