TWO suspected Hells Angels bikie gang associates have appeared in court, with one being granted bail, following a nationwide crackdown on the gang’s activities.
Barry Hunt, 42, and Guy Capponi, 61, were both arrested and refused bail after a police raid on their homes on Wednesday.
Both stand charged with a raft of drug and weapons offences.

The prosecution will allege Capponi was seen on CCTV picking up a parcel from a Post Office box in Howard Springs, which police had previously intercepted and found to contain 55g of “reconstructed ice gel”.
Police executed a search warrant on Capponi’s house two weeks later. It will also be alleged that during the raid on Hunt’s home in Humpty Doo, they found a number of keys belonging to Capponi, including a PO Box key.
Police also allegedly found a number of weapons, four mobile phones — which Hunt claims don’t all work — and a small amount of cannabis.
Hunt’s defence lawyer Shane McMaster said these findings were not enough to prove his client was involved in a drug supply operation.
“He knows the co-accused, he’s known him for at least 15 years and rendered meaningful assistance to them, collects things for that person,” Mr McMaster said. “There’s nothing linking him on that praxis apart from the base assertion that this is something he’s involved in.”
Prosecutor Luke Mc-Laughlin said the Crown opposed bail because of the drug squad’s concerns that Hunt had “significant links” to the drug operation.
‘The tendrils are quite deep,” Mr McLaughlin said.

“This (evidence) paints a very concerning tapestry.”
Hunt was granted bail on the condition that his sister — a federal government worker — provided a $2000 surety and that he reported to police every week.
Capponi’s lawyer Peter Maley also applied for bail on his client’s behalf, with the application being adjourned to next week.
