A DARWIN rural area man allegedly busted with child abuse material on his mobile phone in a raid on Monday has been denied bail.
The 21-year-old, who cannot be named under NT law, faced the Darwin Local Court charged with two counts of possessing the illicit material.
In applying for bail, his lawyer Shane McMaster said it was conceded that the case against his client was strong and he anticipated it would resolved by way of a guilty plea.

Mr McMaster said the man had fully co-operated with police and his mother was prepared to put up a $10,000 surety for his release.
“He’s provided passwords to the best of his ability and if there were any further inquiries of that nature he’s more than willing to be fully compliant,” he said.
But in refusing the application, Judge Stephen Geary said the risk of the man reoffending while on bail was too high.
“Given your frank admission that it’s heading toward a plea of some sort, I think there’s a risk,” he said.
The case continues July 27.
