POLICE used a tyre deflation device to catch two teenage boys driving a stolen vehicle through the streets of Alice Springs last night.
Alice Springs Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said detectives from Strike Force Vipera had recovered two stolen cars in the town on Saturday.
One of them, a black Holden Captiva, had been reported stolen from a home in Braitling about 9.20pm.
“The vehicle was later spotted driving in the CBD with a red Hyundai that had been stolen the previous night in the Gap Rd area,” Watch Cdr Kerr said.

“At about 11pm, the red Hyundai was stopped with a tyre deflation device and the vehicle came to a stop in Stott Tce and two males, both aged 17, were arrested.”
Detectives from Strike Force Viper recovered the black Holden Captiva using a tyre deflation device in Skinner St a few minutes later, but no offenders were located.
Both vehicles have been taken to the Alice Springs police compound for forensic examination.
