Police bust pair with drugs on highway outside the Barunga Festival
Police have charged two men aged 23 and 24 with drug offences after pulling them over on the East Arnhem Rd outside Barunga on Saturday.

POLICE have charged two men aged 23 and 24 with drug offences after pulling them over on the East Arnhem Rd outside Barunga on Saturday.
Drug detection dog Diesel sniffed out a quantity of cannabis inside the Toyota HiLux the 23-year-old was driving and on the 24-year-old’s person.
Further checks turned up various drug paraphernalia and alcohol, along with the fact the vehicle was unregistered.

The 24-year-old was charged with cannabis supply and possession and bringing alcohol into a protected area.
The 23-year-old faces the same charges as well as a string of driving offences, including drug driving.
Both men were remanded to face the Katherine Local Court on Tuesday.
The alcohol and drug-free Barunga Festival held in the remote Indigenous community each year wrapped up on Sunday.
