THERE has been an outpouring of community support for a Palmerston cafe which reopened its doors today after closing down temporarily due to a spate of break-ins.
Mad Hatterz Cafe in Tivendale has reopened today after they were forced to close down for a week after the family-run business was broken into last Monday — for the fourth time in the short time it has been open. — taking a huge financial toll.
Co-owner Jess Gooley said she was touched to see the community rally behind them as they reopened the cafe today.
“This is our first day back and we’re already overwhelmed by the communities support,” she said.
“We’ve seen so many new faces come through the door as well as our regular customers — I’m over the moon.
“It’s given us the spark we need to bounce back after going through such a tough time.

”Dealing with these break-ins really takes a toll, it’s mentally draining.”
