Sadadeen BP in Alice Springs gets private security guard in response to worker getting stabbed

As police continue their investigation into a stabbing, the servo where it took place has beefed up their security. Find out more.

A Northern Territory service station is now manned by private security, as the blood from a staff member stabbed a day earlier could still be seen on the pavement at its entry.

On Monday, when an NT News reporter visited the BP service station in Sadadeen, Alice Springs, a private security guard was observed standing by the counter.

The security guard was out the front of the counter on the floor of the service station, while the worker was behind the counter.

Both the BP worker and the security guard said they were unable to provide a comment to media.

Only 24 hours earlier, a worker at the service station was stabbed in the arm, as he tried to stop two people allegedly trying to steal from the store, NT police said in a statement on Sunday.

When approached for comment Sadadeen BP management, they said they did not want to discuss the incident as it was still under investigation by police.

They said the injured worker had been discharged from the hospital for their injuries.

The worker was doing okay and was stabbed in the arm on Sunday, they said.

However, they confirmed Talice security guard had been contracted for inside the service station in response to the stabbing.

The worker was stabbed Sunday morning about 10.40am, police said in a statement released on the same day.

On Sunday afternoon, they released images of two men who they believed could assist with their investigations.

On Monday afternoon, police said no arrests had been made, nor were there any updates on the investigation into what had happened.
