Man who walked away from rollover found 69km away from crash scene in remote community

NORTHERN Territory police have located a man they were searching for after he walked away into the bush after a single vehicle rollover in Central Australia on Tuesday.
David Namitjira, 47, was said to have left the scene of the crash, about 1km south of Kings Creek Station, near Kings Canyon, on foot about 9am.
Police conducted a land search across the area for Mr Namitjira.
They located him in the remote community of Ukaka, some 69km east of the crash scene.
They do not yet know how he arrived at the community.

Police held serious concerns for Mr Namitjira’s man’s welfare after he went missing as temperatures in the southern desert area topped 38 degrees on Tuesday and his injuries were unknown.
Acting Superintendent Michael Potts said police had been advised of the man’s location by his family.
“Police have ... travelled to the community to confirm his welfare, and are transporting the man to the local clinic for assessment,” he said.
Two women were also in the vehicle at the time of the incident, and were transported to Alice Springs Hospital with minor injuries.

One was discharged Wednesday morning while the other is still in the emergency department in a stable condition.
Police thanked the media and members of the public for their assistance during the search.
