A POPULAR restaurant in the Darwin CBD has been broken into overnight, in yet another blow for a well-known publican less than a month into the new year.
Lazy Susan’s Eating House on Cavenagh St was broken into late on Tuesday night, with pictures showing the thieves used a brick to smash their way through a glass panel.
Publican Jason Hanna, who is behind Lazy Susan’s and other restaurants including The Deck Bar and Chow, said in a social media post that CBD security were on the scene “to apprehend” while police were on their way.

“Middle of CBD, traffic and pedestrians still around and still the useless oxygen thief grabs bricks that size and smashed a plate glass window. Sounds like what he really wanted was a sandwich and a blankie!” he wrote.
NT Police Sergeant Justene Dwyer confirmed officers attended the scene just after midnight and investigations were ongoing.
Mr Hanna, in a social media post two weeks ago, quipped that 2021 could be a “record year” after his businesses were broken into four times in the first 13 days of the year.
