A 31-YEAR-OLD Darwin man has faced court today for charges relating to accessing and possessing child abuse material.

A joint operation between NT Police and Australian Federal Police resulted in the man being arrested after a search warrant at a home in Bayview.

On October 21, 2020 investigators from the Northern Territory Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team were alerted to the man’s activities after they noticed an online user accessing child abuse material via peer-to-peer networks.

The 31-year-old was bailed before appearing in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday morning.

Investigators seized a laptop and a mobile phone for digital forensic analysis during the raid.

It will be alleged a review of the laptop at the scene identified it had been used to access child abuse material.
