AN interstate magistrate will preside over an application to cross examine up to seven witnesses during a committal hearing in the case against Children’s Commissioner Colleen Gwynne.
Ms Gwynne is facing an abuse of office charge in the Darwin Local Court which she has indicated she will defend if the case is committed for trial.
On Wednesday, prosecutor Victoria Engel said she would oppose an application by Ms Gwynne’s lawyers to cross examine the witnesses when the case returns to court on April 19.

After the interstate judge rules on whether to allow the cross examination, the hearing will likely continue into the rest of that week.
Ms Gwynne’s barrister, Giles O’Brien-Hartcher, has previously indicated former NT Public Employment Commissioner Craig Allen would be among the witnesses called.
