CHILDREN’S Commissioner Colleen Gwynne has fronted Darwin Local Court this morning on the charge of abuse of office.
The former cop, represented by Sean Bowden of Bowden McCormack Lawyers, plans to defend the charge.
Facing Judge Greg Cavanagh, Ms Gwynne’s barrister Giles O’Brien-Hartcher asked for the matter to be adjourned.
“This matter is being contested, we are going to defend the matter,” Mr O’Brien-Hartcher.

The matter has been adjourned until November 11 with a brief of facts to be tabled on November 4. She is not required to appear at court for this date.
Ms Gywnne is widely known as the cop who led the investigation which resulted in the conviction of Peter Falconio’s murderer Bradley John Murdoch.

Ms Gwynne has temporarily stood aside from her role as Children’s Commissioner while defending the charges, Anti-discrimination Commissioner Sally Sievers has been appointed as acting Children’s Commissioner until further notice.
