Disgraced sports scientist Stephen Dank back in court on fraud, causing harm charges

CONTROVERSIAL sports scientist Stephen Dank will be locally represented after he applied for legal aid funding in February.
Dank is facing a string of charges including causing serious harm, fraud and forgery and again faced the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday where local lawyer Matt Hubber appeared on his behalf.

Mr Hubber told the court he was “only retained yesterday” and asked for a three week adjournment to familiarise himself with the prosecution brief of evidence.
Dank was originally represented by interstate counsel but at his last appearance in February the court heard he had applied to the NT Legal Aid Commission to fund his defence.
Late last year the NT News revealed the mastermind of the notorious Essendon Football Club’s peptide scandal was facing charges in the NT understood to relate to a brief period of employment at Darwin’s Ageless Health Clinic in early 2017.

Dank declined to comment at the time.
“Good to see the newspapers are on their toes,” he said.
He will return to court on May 27.
