Angry dad Karl Gruber Snr pleads guilty to spitting at cop, stealing a pair of sneakers

A man who was arrested outside a Darwin courthouse while supporting his son who was on remand has pleaded guilty to a raft of offences.

A VICTORIAN man who was arrested outside a Darwin courthouse while supporting his son who was on remand has pleaded guilty to a raft of offences.

Karl Dieter Gruber Snr, 50, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday after his dramatic arrest in February. Gruber Snr pleaded guilty to nine counts of breaching a DVO for attending court with his ex-wife to support their son, Karl Gruber Jr.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing items out of a stranger’s shed and selling them at Cash Converters, stealing a pair of sneakers from someone’s front deck after they had been delivered by Australia Post and spitting in a police officer’s face.

Gruber’s sentencing proceedings had to be adjourned until Tuesday so his lawyer could obtain medical reports from his doctors.
