A DARWIN lawyer was told to “stick” a bail application “up his arse” as he acted for a man who was unexpectedly arrested outside Darwin Local Court on Wednesday after turning up to support his son.

Karl Dieter Gruber, 50, appeared in court where his lawyer Clancy Dane applied for bail on his client’s behalf.

Judge Greg Cavanagh adjourned the application, prompting Gruber Sr to tell his lawyer to “shove it up his arse.”

“F*** this, f*** coming back,” he said as he returned to the cells. He stands charged with breaching a DVO and assaulting police. Gruber was put into a waiting police car as he walked out of the Darwin Local Court where he went to support his son Karl Gruber Jr.

The NT News understands Gruber Sr breached a DVO by attending court with his son’s mother.

The court heard Gruber Sr allegedly spat blood at a police officer in the watch house on Wednesday night. The matter returns to court today.
