A DARWIN social media identity has fronted the Darwin Local Court after being charged with assaulting a market stallholder.
Shannon Joyce, who runs the Mango Inquirer Facebook page, fronted court on Wednesday on the charge of aggravated assault.
The alleged assault took place in mid-March when Joyce went live on his page, which calls itself “an edgy internet news source for stories missed by the mainstream Northern Territory media”.
In the video he filmed himself speaking to a Parap market stallholder, who had allegedly called Joyce a paedophile on Facebook.
Joyce is then shown to throw a white powder in the direction of the stallholder while shouting “anthrax”.
He later claimed on his Facebook page, following inquiries, that the white power was actually self-raising flour and not anthrax.
Joyce currently remains on bail and had his case adjourned for a plea on July 15.
