The incident is the second since Sunday night where a 15-year-old boy has allegedly stolen a vehicle in the Top End.

The alleged theft on Sunday resulted in tragedy when the car crashed into a tree near Manton Dam.

A 15-year-old was killed, while four other teens were injured.

A MAN, 38, will face court after allegedly blowing high-range while driving with an unrestrained infant in the back seat of his car.

“The driver was arrested and later retuned a blood alcohol reading of 0.225.”

The man was charged with: Drive High Range blood alcohol content, provide false details, drive with a child unrestrained and drive while disqualified.

Also on Friday night, Darwin Traffic Operations police stopped a speeding motorist, this time with two unrestrained children in his vehicle.

“The 28-year-old male was travelling with two unrestrained children in the rear of the vehicle, hidden in the footwell beneath a towel,” Supt Malley said.

“The man had a warrant of apprehension and was subsequently arrested. He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court.

“This driver behaviour is disgraceful. Children are our most precious assets, and to put their innocent lives at risk through this sort of reckless disregard for safety is beyond belief.”

‘Total mess’: Locals and tourists astounded by crazy crash

IT’S the kind of collision that leaves one scratching their head and asking: how does someone walk away from such a crazy crash?

The mangled mess that was once a Holden Commodore sits on the corner of East Point Rd outside the Fannie Bay Gaol is a site not to be missed.

Empty tinnies are sprawled inside and out, the bonnet resembles space junk and an innocent palm tree sports black marks left by the horror collision.

For Charlie Van De Graaf, the absurdity of the final resting place of parts of the vehicle like the motor, drew him in to take a closer look at the craziest crash he’d ever seen.

“Me and my mum, we came down here to get an ice cream from the Cool Spot, we noticed this car crash and my mum was talking to me like ‘oh yeah that’s been there for a while now we should check it out’ and we went to check it out and it’s a total mess,” Charlie said.

“The engine is fully torn out, wheels everywhere, the front and back is everywhere, all the stuff from the inside is gone and the keys are still in there.”

A spokesman for NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services said the incident remained under investigation.

“At around 5am Monday morning, police received reports that a grey Holden Commodore had collided with a light pole on Ross Smith Ave,” the spokesman said.

“The vehicle was located abandoned.”

As of Wednesday morning, the destroyed car still remained at the scene.

St John Ambulance NT said it had not received any reports of the crash.
