SEVEN children have been arrested after they stole a car in the Alice Springs area overnight.

The black Ford Everest was stolen after a break in at an East Side property just before 2am Tuesday morning.

Police spotted the car being driven through The Gap at around 4.15am when they deployed a tyre deflation device and stopped the car.

Seven kids, aged between 10 and 16, were apprehended by police.

Most of them will be considered for youth diversion.

Meanwhile, a black 2010 Honda Jazz with NT plates CC43HD was stolen on Sunday night — also from the East side area — and a Green 2013 SubaruXV with NT registration CB12TG was stolen from the Stuart area after a break-in.
