A 71-year-old motorcyclist has sadly died from his injuries following a serious crash on McMillans Road on Sunday.

UPDATE: The 71-year-old motorcyclist who was involved in a crash on McMillans Road on Sunday morning passed away in Royal Darwin Hospital.

The man been riding a motorcycle when he collided with a car at about 8.30am on Sunday, and passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

Detective senior sergeant Brendan Lindner said NT Police continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

“Major crash detectives have spoken with a number of witnesses and we thank them for coming forward,” he said.

“We continue to appeal for any others who saw the crash to occur, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police to assist with the investigation.”

Anyone with information who can assist with the investigation is urged to contact police on 131444 and quote reference number 9784625.

UPDATE MONDAY: POLICE are calling for any motorists who witnessed a crash which left a 71-year-old motorcyclist in a critical condition in Royal Darwin Hospital.

An NT Police spokesman said shortly before 8.30am on Sunday, police received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Charles Eaton Dr and McMillans Rd in Eaton.

“A silver Toyota Corolla had collided with a blue and white Yamaha Virago motorcycle,” he said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said the Major Crash Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate and would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident.

“If you saw the incident or either of the vehicles in the lead-up, if you have dashcam or CCTV footage, please contact police on 131 444 and quote reference 9784625.

UPDATE 11.30AM: A 71-year-old man is in a critical condition following a serious crash on McMillans Rd on Sunday morning.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the man had been riding a motorcycle when he collided with a car at about 8.30am.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition while the driver of the car was not injured.

An NT Police spokesman said the road would likely remain closed for much of Sunday and asked motorists to avoid the area.

“At around 8.20am, a car collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Charles Eaton Dr and McMillans Rd,” he said.

“The motorcycle rider was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition, the driver of the vehicle suffered no injuries.”

EARLIER: Emergency services are on the scene of a serious crash on the corner of McMillans Rd and Charles Eaton Dr.

Police are directing traffic around the crash site and say at least one person has been seriously injured.
