DRUG Detection Dog Yakka has helped sniff out a whopping 4.9kg of cannabis at an Alice Springs property, with more narcotics and an electroshock weapon also seized.
On Saturday detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Branch and the Dog Operations Unit executed a search warrant on a residential premises in The Gap, targeting dangerous drugs.
Drug Detection Dog Yakka reacted to several locations around the property, with police finding a total 4.9kg of cannabis.
A 45-year-old man was charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis.
He was remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on September 13.
A 46-year-old male was issued a notice to appear for possession of a less than trafficable quantity of methamphetamine and cannabis.
A 45-year-old man was also given a notice to appear for possession of an electroshock weapon and a less than trafficable quantity of cannabis.
Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said the finds were unacceptable.
“The supply and distribution of illicit substances into Alice Springs and its surrounding communities causes significant harm,” he said.
“The Northern Territory Police will continue to work tirelessly within the community to target individuals, and criminal networks, to disrupt the supply of these substances.”
