The Territory’s top water cop continues to fight allegations she assaulted and threatened to kill another person inside a Darwin home.
The case against NT Water Police Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Sandi-lee Mellon was briefly mentioned at Darwin Local Court on Monday.
In the hearing — which lasted just over two minutes — Mrs Mellon’s lawyer Ray Murphy told the court his client had not settled on a plea.
The Senior Sergeant faces five charges in relation to an incident on August 26, the day after her husband and fellow officer was arrested for unrelated conspiracy charges.
It is not alleged Mrs Mellon’s charges are related to her husband’s case.
Mrs Mellon was charged with trespassed, unlawful entry, assault and making threats to kill.
She was also charged with disorderly behaviour and it will be alleged the obscene language was loud enough to be heard from the street.
On Monday, Mr Murphy said following discussions with the prosecutor he was requesting an adjournment.
Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris said a two-week delay was difficult due to the high volume of court cases moving through the courts.
“I can adjourn to any day if it’s a plea, but if it’s not quite there yet —” Ms Morris said.
Mr Murphy confirmed the case was “not there yet”, so Ms Morris agreed to push back the directions hearing to April 17.
