June 27: Footage has emerged of the shocking moment a bus collided with a ute on the Stuart Hwy.
The dashcam video shared on Facebook shows traffic lights at the Ross Smith Ave and Stuart Hwy intersection turning green before a Ford Ranger begins to cross the thoroughfare.
But despite the driver’s right of way according to the traffic signals, the footage shows the Darwin bus continuing through the intersection.
Both vehicles came to a complete stop when the bus appears to collide with the ute’s driver’s side door in the heart-stopping crash.
Police and fireys attended the scene to redirect traffic just after midday Wednesday.
Emergency services treated the bus driver for minor injuries.
An NT Police spokesman said cops expected to issue an infringement notice to the bus driver.
Bus damaged following crash on major Top End highway
June 26: Traffic was disrupted following a collision between a bus and a car on the Stuart Highway near the Parap turn off early on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash was reported just after 12pm near the Parap petrol station, with police and fire engines coming to assist and redirect traffic.
The number 8 bus to Palmerston was spotted with its windscreen having taken heavy damage while the wheel of a utility vehicle had been bent.
Emergency services treated the bus driver for minor injuries.
All passengers disembarked the bus.
The NT incident map originally reported a person had been trapped as a result of the crash.
Traffic flow returned to normal before 1pm with investigations ongoing.
