Embracing a bear made from her mother’s clothes, five-year-old Brooklyn Fairfield’s sequin dress glistened under the lights of her mother’s altar.

Sixteen days after Sheena Fairfield was slain in her driveway, family and friends gathered at the spot she and husband Mick Fairfield shared their last date.

Grief stricken, shaking and with tears rolling down Mr Fairfield’s cheeks, close friend Yvonne Butterworth read the words he had written for his wife.

“The biggest part of our love was your beautiful smile and being bossy,” he wrote.

“I have a baby girl that has the same smile.”

He remembered the love of his life as a “force of nature” with “a heart of gold” who often indulged his wildest ideas.

“I would always come up with these ideas,” he wrote.

“Honey we should get chickens … sure she said … but 12 months later she made me sell them because the chickens kept getting out and laying on the washing machine or in the back of the outside fridge.”

As Ms Butterworth read Mr Fairfield’s memories of the “good times”, a smile flickered across his face.

His shoulders gently released and everyone in the room seemed transported from the tragedy that had brought them together.

But the moment was brief as Ms Butterworth then read out a letter from the couple’s five-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, who is believed to have witnessed her mother’s alleged murder.

“Mummy we put the Christmas tree up this week,” the letter read.

“Mummy, I miss everything about you … I love you so much.”

Young Brooklyn and Mr Fairfield released three butterflies as a symbol of the “beautiful butterfly in our hearts”, as friends watched on.

The husband and wife team operated Territory Butchers before Mrs Fairfield was killed on Thursday, November 10.

Joerg Kloepper, the director of Joerg’s Gardening Service, was charged the following Tuesday with Ms Fairfield’s murder.

Kloepper was remanded in custody to appear via video link on January 25.

Investigations into Ms Fairfield’s death are ongoing.
