Darwin Channel 9 news reporter Georgie Dickerson’s case has been adjourned for seven months as her legal team continues “exploring her options”.
The 25-year-old was charged with impersonating a police officer in December.
Ms Dickerson did not appear for a directions hearing on Monday, but was instead represented by lawyer James Stuchbery, who indicated the case had three witnesses but told Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris “we don’t know what that information is”.
“There’s no statement, Your Honour, we’re exploring her options in relation to summons to produce documents,” he said.
Further evidence would be submitted by March 20.
In a statement issued on December 12, NT Police said the alleged offence related to an incident in Palmerston on October 17, 2022.
In response to the charge, Darren Wick, Channel 9’s national director of news and current affairs threw his support behind Ms Dickerson.
“Nine News denies any wrongdoing and strongly supports our reporter,” Mr Wick said.
