IT has been an NTFL season like no other, uplifted rather than downgraded by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Southern recruits by the planeload have made their way to the Top End of Australia to get the feel of a football again and the eight Premier League clubs have had some enormous benefits as a result.

The NT News sat down this week to name their Top 25 men’s Premier League players from 11 rounds of the 20-21 season, a task made more difficult by the wave of superb players drawn to the Darwin based competition.

Strength in the clinches, leg speed to burn, poise and discipline in defence and powerful marking are all assets of the Top 25.

The Southern Districts utility has been a highlight of the Crocs unit when played.

Topping the stats in Round 6 with a showing of 32 touches against Palmerston, with a total of 135 disposals form his first five appearances, was a testament to the man who made his SANFL debut for Norwood earlier this year.

His ability to find the ball and inject intensity when Districts need it will be crucial if the side is to make finals.

19: BEAU O’CONNELL (WANDERERS)

Eight goals from six games and a work ethic that takes him all around the ground makes O’Connell a big player in Wanderers’ bid for their first Premier League flag since 2015.

A late starter this season, the joint Nichols medallist with Filo last season has slotted back into his running midfield role with a minimum of fuss.

The man from Mt Eliza signed with the Box Hill Hawks has been a rock in defence for the struggling Tiwi Bombers with his hard nosed defending giving oppositions little room to move.

With a league high average of 8.3 rebound 50s from 10 games and the hand and foot skills to set up teammates further down the field DeWit is exactly the defender Tiwi need.

17. BRODIE FILO (NIGHTCLIFF)

What had been an efficient rather than sparkling season for the reigning Nichols medallist has exploded in recent weeks with some brilliant performances.

Filo’s six goals from eight games have been amplified by his long kicking while streaming down the ground.

Can find the football inside a contest or running on the outside, a time when opposition sides click into defensive mode.

Brew has made a big impression for Tigers with his presence in the midfield often resulting in possession for the premiers.

The who has played senior football with North Albury knows his way around the ground and like many of the 2020-21 imports has taken to the northern game without a hint of hesitation.

His hardness and appetite for the ball is most evident in his 84 tackles from 11 games and with 193 disposals to his name his workrate is undisputed.
