IT is the news Dragons coach Daniel Lacey has been waiting weeks to hear - his Jillaroos duo of Sam Bremner and Kezie Apps have been cleared for lift-off in the inaugural NRL women’s premiership.

Lacey on Sunday confirmed both players will be on the pitch for the Dragons when the women’s competition begins alongside the NRL men’s finals this weekend.

“Kezie is 100 per cent to play. Sam is 100 per cent,’’ Lacey said of his star duo who have been on the mend from leg injuries.

COMEBACK: What has Kezie Apps smiling again?

Lacey hopes to have further good news this week on second-rower Talesha Quinn, who is on the comeback from surgery.

Quinn only recently joined the Dragons’ for her first field session after undergoing surgery on her knee six weeks ago.

PRE-SEASON: Who are the ‘enigmas’

“With Talesha it has been touch and go for a bit given she had surgery,’’ Lacey said.

“But things are looking encouraging for her as well.

“We will be chucking them all into the deep end to get the combinations going.

“This is going to give the team a massive boost, having them back.’’

Lacey said the Dragons will train three times this week as the clock clicks down to their first ever NRL game.

“I’ve told them all to try and enjoy the moment as much as possible,’’ he said.

The Dragons have been handed the tough task of beating the big-name Broncos women’s side at home on Sunday.

But Lacey said he wasn’t fazed by the first round draw for the women’s event released on Sunday although he expects the Broncos to come out hard.

“They will be a team that will be ready to go round one,” Lacey said.

“They won’t be dipping their toe in. They will be there from the start of this competition.”

The Broncos on Sunday defeated the PNG Orchids 48-14 in a trial match.

This coming Sunday they will host the Dragons prior to the men’s match.

The Roosters will play the Warriors in Sydney on Saturday.
