SOUTH Darwin’s hard-running backs and committed forwards saw their side to a big 40-5 win over University Pirates in Round 11 of the Darwin A-grade Rugby Union competition.
The Rabbitohs were on the run from the start with their hard-running backs and tough pack challenging the Pirates’ defence.
It was Nasoni Rokobiau who broke University’s line first, charging through a gap before passing off to David Nichol allowing the fullback to show his pace on the way to the opening score.

Souths continued their attacking ways off the back of their strong forward pack and Vincent Mehn directing proceedings from fly-half.
Jone Vakacegu added another try following a bit of running magic, soon followed by another score for Setefano Cakaunivalu to give the Bunnies a healthy lead.
Pirates fought hard applying pressure of their own but found themselves with limited opportunities from their pack.
Playing-coach Robbie Butcher managed a score before halftime to put his side on the board after charging through the Souths defence.
But that would be all conceded by the Bunnies as they took a proper hold in the second half, propelling their score further with tries to Josh Cockbain, Hayden Summers and Jarrad Lane.
Mehn was pleased with the result which saw his side continue its strong run of form, which has also seen big wins over Darwin Dragons and Casuarina Cougars since the mid-season break.
“It’s a good feeling to get the win. We had a lot of fun and we’re pleased with that one,” Mehn told the Sunday Territorian.
“The boys played really well out there sticking to the game plan and playing heads-up rugby, which is what we want to do.
“We put plenty of trust in our structure and game plan, managing to get everyone on board and playing as a team with the forwards in particular having a big game.
“Our form comes down to having those trainings together where we’re focusing on our rugby and having the maximum amount of fun while we’re on the field.
“There are still things we need to work on in terms of structure so we will just keep improving as we head toward finals.”
