REVHEADS from across the country converged on the Darwin Waterfront on Thursday to meet their favourite Supercars drivers ahead of this weekend’s Supercars and Superbikes action in the tropics.

They were acknowledged with a Welcome to Country during a smoking ceremony from Larrakia Nation.

Afterwards, fans who had travelled from all across the country got their chance to interact with their favourite drivers and riders. The Pitts family drove up from South Australia to attend the event with the trip to Darwin one of their favourites of the season.

“We’ve driven up here from South Australia because we love the Supercars and love the warmer climate up here,” Bri Pitts said.

“We come up every second year. It’s one of the highlights of the year, Darwin is one of our favourite events.”

And they weren’t alone, with travellers and drivers alike lauding the weather in the Top End compared to the cooler temps down south.

Young car enthusiasts such as Sean and Cooper McGregor and Thomas Bowen enjoyed the chance to look at the cars and bikes on display.

Stephen Harris and son Charlie were in town from Perth to get their first taste of Supercars action in two years.

And their first trip to Darwin, which also included visits to the jumping crocodiles, has already convinced the pair to return for future Darwin rounds.

“We’re very excited to see the Supercars, we’re from Perth so we haven’t been able to see them for two years,” Mr Harris said.

“We’re enjoying the Darwin atmosphere so far, we made the trip up for the week. It’s our first time here but we will definitely be back, it’s a great location.”
